and womanhood. Although we might not necessarily agree with each
little detail expressed in every article, you will find them to be
encouraging and instructive as you raise your daughters to be beautiful
Biblical women and your sons to be Biblically defined men. My teenagers’ peers often discuss the movie Bruce Almighty, the rock groups Switchfoot and Evanescence, country music, sexy actors, and personal appearance. In these cultural elements, young people seem to live, move, and have their being. In fact, my own teenagers tell me that hardly anyone they know listens to anything but rock and country music. All this occurs among some of the most conservative Christians in the most conservative churches..... Posted May 16, 2009 Modeling Modesty by Mary K. Mohler The mention of the word modesty conjures up images of women in petticoats and bonnets. It has become an outdated notion instead of a desirable trait. Christians are wise to remember that modesty is biblically mandated. It is an attitude that starts in the heart and works outward..... Read Article (Outside Link) Posted May 18, 2009 The Feminization of the Family by William Einwechter Feminism is a radical movement. As such, it goes to the very root of the relationship between men and women and seeks to alter the societal and institutional structures that are perceived to be in conflict with the ideas and goals of feminism..... Read Article (Outside Link) Posted May 18, 2009 Called to the Home - Called to Rule by Melissa Keen The propriety of Christian, Bible-believing women having careers is a controversial subject in the modern church. However, I believe that God has something to say about everything, even if it is simply a subtly stated principle instead of a direct command or explicit explanation. When tackling any subject, it is vital to use Scripture as the basis for all points of discussion. Following are my personal thoughts and beliefs on the subject and the interpretation of this matter that God has laid on my heart... Read Article (Outside Link) Posted May 19, 2009 Duty and Honor by R.C. Sproul Today, the word honor has all but disappeared from the English language. I speak about honor because the dictionary lists the term honor as the chief synonym for the word integrity. My concern in this article is to ask: “What is the meaning of integrity?” .... Read Article (Outside Link) Posted May 19, 2009 The Biblical Portrait of Women: Setting the Record Straight by John MacArthur The Bible is, and has always been, a revolutionary book. It stands like a coastal rock cliff to resist the surging, crashing waves of cultural change. And there may be no clearer demonstration of the Bible's immutable word than what it teaches about genuine femininity... Read Article (Outside Link) Posted May 23, 2009 The Beautiful Faith of Fearless Submission (1 Peter 3:1-7) by John Piper We continue in our series on marriage, and today we focus on what it means for a wife to be submissive to her husband. I am very eager that men and women, single and married, old and young (including children) hear this as a call to something strong and noble and beautiful and dignified and worthy of a woman's highest spiritual and moral efforts... Read Article (Outside Link) Posted May 25, 2009 Created to Worship by Tedd and Margy Tripp Human beings are worshippers. It follows then, that children are worshippers. We can almost hear someone say, “Not my children, Tedd and Margy, they fall asleep in church every week.” But nonetheless, your children are worshippers. They have been created in the image of God. The world in which they live is designed to display the glory of God, and children—indeed, all human beings—are uniquely designed for worship...Read Article (Outside Link) Posted May 25, 2009 The Great Masquerade: An Impure Facade by Stacy MacDonald “But it doesn’t matter what I wear!” Sarah scoffed. “God sees my heart!” Sarah finished putting on her lipstick while Hannah tried in vain to reason with her old friend. “Yes, God sees your heart,” Hannah explained, “but nobody else does—especially boys—they see that.” Hannah swept her hand in front of Sarah’s revealing outfit. “Don’t you see? They’re too distracted by what you’re wearing to notice you.” Read Article (Outside Link)Posted June 12, 2009 I talked with some young mothers at a child’s birthday party. A mother of five young children, one a new baby, was full of guilt because she could not manage to spend individual time with each one of her children each day. She said she woke up guilty every morning, wondering how she could give enough attention to them. She was under the impression that she should give an hour of her time to each one individually every day. .. Posted November 11, 2009 I knew this would be a hot topic,
and so it was. On Tuesday's edition of The Albert Mohler Program we
dealt with the issue of modesty as related to the dress of women
(especially of brides and bridesmaids) at weddings. My special guest
was my wife, Mary, who is the author of Modeling Modesty....
